The Ultimate Bed Size Guide

Buying a mattress is one of the most important investments for your health. Choosing the wrong size can lead to cramped sleep for couples or a bedroom that feels impossibly small.

Standard Bed Dimensions (US)

  • Twin: 38" x 75" - Ideal for children or small guest rooms.
  • Full (Double): 54" x 75" - Great for single adults who want more space.
  • Queen: 60" x 80" - The standard for couples.
  • King: 76" x 80" - Maximum space for couples and pets.
  • California King: 72" x 84" - Best for very tall people (6'2" and above).

Considering Room Clearance

A bed might fit into a room, but can you walk around it? Our calculator checks for at least **24 inches (60cm)** of clearance. This is the minimum required to move naturally without feeling claustrophobic. If you have a nightstand or dresser, you may need even more space.

Tall Sleepers

If you are taller than 6 feet (183cm), standard Twin and Full beds may feel too short. An extra-long (XL) or a Queen/King (which are 80-84 inches long) will provide much-needed legroom.
